THE AUTUMN OF PREMIERES IN SOLARIS BUS & COACH.
Back to press releases

Solaris Bus & Coach is announcing a multitude of novelties for September. The producer of buses from Bolechów near Poznań will present as many as three new models at important bus industry events held in the upcoming

month in Kielce and in Hannover. The premiere presentations feature a new generation of low-floor city buses Solaris Urbino III, a low entry bus Solaris Urbino III, and a gas powered bus Solaris Urbino CNG.

During the bus fairs Kielce 2004, held on September 9-10, Solaris Bus & Coach is going to present two novelties: Solaris Urbino of the Low Entry type and Solaris Urbino with a gas engine. An additional feature of our exhibition is the thousandth bus made by Solaris. Solaris Urbino number 1000, to be exhibited in Kielce, is being produced in cooperation with the City Transit Company in Cracow. The transfer of the bus to the respresentatives of the City Transit Company from Cracow will take place at the fairs.

In Hannover, during the IAA fairs, two new buses from the Polish producer will be presented to the international public for the first time: Solaris Urbino of the third generation and Solaris Urbino III of the Low Entry type. The third model to be exhibited at the Polish stand from September 23rd to 30th is a coach Solaris Vacanza 13. This coach is already well-known from the last year premiere in Kortrijk in Belgium. The motto of the Solaris Bus & Coach stand at IAA this year is "Made in Poland. Made for Europe".

The premieres of new Solaris Bus & Coach bus models, scheduled for autumn, are addressed mainly to the customers interested in buses for city and suburban transport.

The new, third generation of low-floor city buses Solaris Urbino III is the improved and modernized version of the product which entered the market four years ago. Solaris Urbino III combines modern design with the reliability of the tested technological solutions. The improvements introduced to Solaris Urbino III include more modern, better quality parts which enhance the comfort and safety of driving as well as facilitate everyday maintenance. The body and the interior of the new generation of Solaris Urbino differ from the previous ones. The changes to the design of Solaris Urbino III are visible, for instance, in the shape of the front line of the bus, of the destination signs casing, bumpers, the air inlets grille, and rear light covers, which enhanced their sharpness. Just as innovative as the exterior of Solaris Urbino III, the interior features ergonomic shapes and the practicality of solutions along with interesting colors and the sense of safety. The gentle, diffused light emanating from the ceiling makes the bus a cozier place. The technical nature of the bus interior is accented in the area of engine covering, whose optical highlight is the revolution counter built in the tower.

The low-entry Solaris Urbino is an offer aimed at carriers in cities and towns searching for vehicles with a maximum number of seats, adjusted to the long distance transport of passengers and at the same time economical in terms of the purchase and the maintenance. The main advantage of Solaris Urbino Low Entry is the possibility of easy boarding and unproblematic movement and taking a seat inside the bus, so that the passengers can experience the highest comfort of travel even on short routes. Comfortable movement inside the bus is secured in 50% by the low floor, which from the middle of the vehicle, i.e. from the second door is replaced with a platform with seats. Two stable steps provide easy passage from the low floor to the platform. The Low Entry model features 42+1 seats. SOLARIS URBINO Low Entry combines the elegance of Solaris Urbino III with the pragmatism and economical solutions.

The concept of creating a city bus Solaris Urbino CNG with a gas engine emerged in response to the market situation and the growing demand for city transport vehicles with fuels alternative to oil. The basis for the construction of Solaris Urbino CNG was a typical city bus in which significant modifications have been made, such as bottles with gas compressed to 200 atmospheres placed on the roof, constructing the system of low and high pressure installation for gas decompression, and a special, highly ecological and economical engine conforming to the fumes cleanliness norms, which correspond to Euro IV standards.

"The changes introduced to our buses result from the desire to improve our constructions in line with our customers’ wishes and the latest technological advances. CNG and Low Entry models are our response to the demand on the market. In the period of increasing oil prices the demand for alternative fuels is growing. Additionally, their advantage is the fact that they are environment friendly. Another tendency that we have observed is the rising interest in increasing bus economy at a relatively low purchase price. Our response to this demand is the Low Entry model."- chairman of Solaris Bus & Coach Krzysztof Olszewski comments.
