Solaris with Sirens: InterUrbino is new Mobile Command Unit for Poznań's Fire Brigade

Solaris with Sirens: InterUrbino is new Mobile Command Unit for Poznań's Fire Brigade
Back to press releases

The Polish National Fire Brigade now controls its major operations in the Poznań region right where they happen: a specially fitted Solaris InterUrbino has been developed as a Mobile Command Unit and functions as communications hub. When called out, the bus, which has been converted by specialist Arkom, will deploy sirens and blue lights to quickly reach its destination.

The red InterUrbino will assume a leading role in major events and during operations of long duration. Thanks to its purpose-built interior, it offers everything required from a mobile command unit. In addition, 30 seats enable crew transports.

Krzysztof Musial, Solaris Sales Director for Central Poland, explains the specification of the fire brigade’s InterUrbino: "The bus has a conference table for situation reviews and briefings as well as three workstations for radio operators, who are able to make use of a 70km range thanks to a powerful antenna. Batteries provide energy for the entire vehicle for several hours, beyond which a generator can be deployed."

Lech Janiak, Polish National Fire Brigade Wielkopolska Region Deputy Commander, is delighted with the new mobile command unit: "This bus is part of a new command strategy. It not only offers us the possibility of crew transport, but most importantly provides a space where our specialists will work alongside and in close cooperation with their colleagues of police, emergency and other services. This solution not only is suited for all weathers, but also provides latest telecommunication technology."

The new Solaris InterUrbino is the second Solaris bus used by the Polish National Fire Brigade. Poznań Fire Brigade Academy uses a 2007 Solaris Vacanza coach for crew transport.
