Solaris Bus & Coach has won yet another tender to supply its low floor Solaris Urbino city buses to a customer in Germany. On this occasion the Bolechowo-based Polish manufacturer has been contracted to deliver a batch of 21 Solaris
Urbino 12 buses to Rheinbahn of Düsseldorf by the end of November. 
The 12-metre Solaris Urbino buses for Düsseldorf will be powered by MAN Euro3 diesel engines, mated to Voith automatic transmissions. Additionally, the vehicles will be fitted with CRTTM particulate filters to reduce emission levels even further.
Until now the 300-plus strong Rheinbahn bus fleet was predominantly made up of MAN, Mercedes and Neoplan units. Now, these will be joined by buses from the Polish manufacturer.
This most recent tender to supply buses to the Düsseldorf operator is not the only tender in Germany to have been won by Solaris during May. Solaris Bus & Coach also won an order to deliver 10 Solaris Urbino 18 articulated buses to Bremer Strassenbahn AG, and will supply two Solaris Urbino 12 buses to Faszinatour operator based in Wies.
"German city transport operators are the biggest single group of our export customers at the moment. Currently, including the orders due to be completed by the end of the year, Solaris buses operate or will operate in 33 municipalities in Germany. We are confident that, come the end of 2005, the group of our customers here on the German market will grow bigger," commented Krzysztof Olszewski, Solaris Bus & Coach chairman and chief executive.
It is worth noting at this point that Solaris Bus & Coach exported a total of 366 units in 2004. The scale of Solaris Bus & Coach export achievement has been recognised by the Grand Jury of the prestigious ÂEconomic Prize of the President of the Republic of Poland". Solaris Bus & Coach has been included in the final shortlist of three companies in the ÂExports" category. The winner will be announced on June 20th.
