New Organisational Structure at Solaris Bus & Coach

New Organisational Structure at Solaris Bus & Coach
Back to press releases

Solaris founder and CEO Krzysztof Olszewski became the head of the supervisory board on 16 October 2008. His position as head of the board was taken over by Solange Olszewska, previously deputy chairwoman of the board and

responsible for customer relations.

The changes to the organisational structure are the result of the dynamic growth of the past 12 years since production began. Krzysztof Olszewski explains: "As we are heading for further growth, the new position as head of the supervisory board allows me to put greater focus on the necessity of an effective, strategic management and guidance of our company. Our strategic aims for the future include - apart from continually increased efficiency in our core bus business - the development, production and sale of trams and research and development for all-electric buses."

Day-to-day management of Solaris Bus & Coach now is in the hands of Olszewski’s wife Solange Olszewska, who takes the position as new chairwoman of the board. "At the beginning of our success story, we had 36 people working for us. Now we employ more than 1,500 and our buses are operated in 20 countries. The new organisational structure is essential for Solaris to govern the company even more efficiently. This is heightened by the fact that we now one of Europe’s leading bus manufacturers. Furthermore, due to our successful penetration of core European markets, particularly in the public tenders field, the continued development of adequate distribution channels is indispensable," said Solange Olszewska.

The new organisational structure does not affect the ownership of Solaris Bus & Coach S.A., which continues to be in the hands of the Olszewski family. "We place great emphasis on our tradition as a family business. This is reflected in the structure of the company as well as in our organisational culture. Over the last year, both of our children joined us in the company. Our daughter Małgorzata is now in charge of the German market, while our son Jan works in internal auditing," said chairwoman of the board Solange Olszewska.
