The PKS Bielsko-Biała operator has placed an order for 26 Solaris Urbino 12 buses with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) drives. It is the second-biggest order for CNG-fuelled vehicles secured by Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. in Poland. By the end of the year, the company is also to supply 54 Solaris Urbino 18 CNG buses to Warsaw.
The total value of the contract signed with PKS Bielsko-Biała amounts to 32 million PLN. The vehicles are to be delivered to the carrier in two batches. The first 13 buses will be released to the customer within 11 months from the contract signing. The final deadline for the whole order is December 2020.
PKS Bielsko-Biała has decided in favour of compressed natural gas-fuelled buses. Adjusted to servicing this type of driveline, with a power of 239 kW, the motors meet the rigorous European emission norm Euro 6. Each of the 26 vehicles will ensure a comfortable ride for up to 90 passengers, including 32 seated ones. Access to the bus will be possible through two entries set apart in a 2-2-0 door layout.
An efficient air-conditioning system of the passenger compartment and of the driver’s cabin will ensure the well-being of the bus users. Another one of the amenities the Solaris Urbino 12 CNG will offer is a video surveillance system including a screen display for the driver, and also Wi-Fi access and USB port sockets.
CNG buses have been produced in the Bolechowo-based factory since 2004. Over the course of 15 years, customers have received over 1100 vehicles with a CNG drive. Environmental-friendly Solaris vehicles are part of the vehicle fleets of urban and regional transport operators in, among others: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Israel, Lithuania, Slovakia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Sweden and Italy.
