This month, Solaris has completed the deliveries of 10 electric buses to Milan. The ATM transport operator has already used an option of the agreement and ordered a further 15 vehicles. The total amount of electric buses delivered by Solaris to Italy this year has reached 22.

- We already have nearly 150 buses in Milan. Another orders placed are an evidence of customer’s trust in our brand. We are content that we can deliver the emission-free, state-of-the-art vehicles. Electromobility is the future of public transport – says Alberto Fiore, Managing Director of Solaris Italia S.r.l.

The Urbino electric for Milano are driven by an electric axles with integrated 125 kW traction motors. The energy is stored in a High Energy batteries packs with a total capacity of 240 kWh which can be recharged via an on-board, 70 kW charger. The operator has already placed an order for another 15 buses with the same configuration. The delivery of those is scheduled for the end of this year.

The ATM Milano has configured its vehicle in a way it can offer seats for 26 passengers, and 14 of them is available from the low floor. The buses are also equipped with an efficient air conditioning. One of the elements improving safety on board is the sophisticated Fire Trace fire extinguishing system which includes.eg., the possibility of an automatic extinguishing of the traction container. The operator from Milan has also ordered an advanced monitoring system, consisting of 9 cameras, a rear camera, a 10” monitor on the center console and a data recorder. The vehicles also provide a passenger counting system.

In February this year, the Polish producer has delivered 12 Urbino 12 electric buses to Bergamo. Therefore, the total amount of electrically driven, zero-emission Solaris vehicles in Italy amounts to 22.

For Solaris, which has up to date delivered over 900 buses to Italy, the orders from Bergamo and Milan are an evidence of recognition from the Italian customers. It is from the Apennine Peninsula that the producer received the largest ever one-off contract to deliver 360 InterUrbino buses to Cotral operator from Lazio region.
