Impressive order from Sweden: 101 Solaris electric buses for Stockholm
Back to press releases

The Swedish transport operator VR Sverige has once again decided to purchase Solaris buses. As part of an impressive order for 101 electric buses, Solaris will deliver models with lengths of 9, 12, 15 and 18 meters. Solaris is currently carrying out another large order for this operator, for 81 Urbino 15 LE electric buses, awarded in 2025.

The operator VR Sverige has ordered 101 electric buses from Solaris. The impressive order consists of four models of different lengths: 5× Urbino 9 LE electric, 47× Urbino 12 electric with modular drive, 22× Urbino 15 LE electric and 27× Urbino 18 electric with modular drive. The modern, zero‑emission buses will serve passengers in Stockholm.

“We are proud to continue and strengthen our collaboration with VR Sverige. This partnership marks an important milestone for us, as it establishes a significant foothold in the Swedish capital. Expanding our presence in Stockholm not only reflects the trust placed in us by VR Sverige, but also underlines our long-term commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and services in the region”, says Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Sverige AB.

“This order represents a significant step toward sustainable, electrified bus transport. It contributes to emissions reduction, supports VR’s environmental objectives, and ensures the provision of reliable, high-quality services in our bus contracts, while fostering a safe and supportive environment for drivers and maintenance personnel”, says Anders Frykman, Bus Director at VR Sverige.

The ordered buses will significantly enhance travel comfort for both passengers and residents of the Swedish capital. Each vehicle will be equipped with an efficient electric drive and a Solaris High Energy battery pack with capacity tailored to the model and route characteristics, ensuring all‑day range without the need for recharging. The buses will be air‑conditioned, equipped with a passenger information system and various assistance solutions that increase safety and driver comfort.

The continuation of cooperation with VR Sverige marks another important step on the road toward zero‑emission transport in the region and demonstrates how dynamically the battery‑powered mobility segment is developing in Sweden. Solaris plays a significant role in this process. To date, the company has delivered nearly 300 electric buses to this market, and with the completion of the latest orders, including two contracts for VR Sverige, this number will exceed 550 vehicles.
