Solaris to deliver 120 articulated buses to Warsaw
Back to press releases

Solaris Bus & Coach has won the largest tender of the year announced by the Public Transport Authority in Warsaw. The manufacturer will deliver 120 articulated diesel buses. This purchase will modernize Warsaw’s fleet and replace the oldest vehicles currently in daily operation. Deliveries will begin in the second half of 2026 and continue throughout 2027. The purchaser also has the option to increase the order by an additional 100 articulated Solaris buses.

The Public Transport Authority (ZTM) in Warsaw has ordered 120 Solaris Urbino 18 articulated buses. The purchase will modernize the fleet and reduce the average age of vehicles, directly improving passenger comfort and safety. Deliveries will begin in the second half of 2026 and continue into 2027. Under the terms of the agreement, the purchaser may expand the order by an additional 100 buses of the same specification.

The low-floor articulated buses will offer 133 passenger spaces, including 39 seats. They will be equipped with modern features, air conditioning, and a monitoring system. Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof to reduce the vehicle’s energy consumption. Another feature, already well known in Warsaw’s public transport system, is the so-called alcolock – an anti-alcohol interlock for drivers. The device measures alcohol presence in exhaled air and prevents the engine from starting if the result is positive.

Solaris Bus & Coach is one of Europe’s leading producers of city buses. The company focuses on the development of zero-emission vehicles – electric, hydrogen, and trolleybuses. The producer’s portfolio also includes diesel and CNG-powered buses. Since the Bolechowo factory began operations, more than 27,000 Solaris vehicles have been produced. Interestingly, 1,750 of them have been delivered to operators in Warsaw.
