Solaris expands production capacity and accelerates growth strategy
Back to press releases

Solaris has unveiled a new production hall in the municipality of Środa Wielkopolska. The investment will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity and represents a key element of its growth strategy, aimed at strengthening its position in the zero-emission public transport segment across Europe.

The new facility is located in the Środa Wielkopolska area, where Solaris has operated its main welding plant for steel frames used in buses and trolleybuses since 1998.

The newly commissioned hall, with a total area of over 7,000 square metres, is dedicated for final assembly of city buses. Until now, this stage of production has been carried out exclusively in Bolechowo near Poznań,  but from now on it will be carried out simultaneously at both sites. The new facility will increase Solaris’ existing production capacity by approximately 500 vehicles per year. It also marks an important step toward achieving annual production and sales of 2,000 vehicles. The new plant has already created nearly 300 direct jobs, with several hundred additional positions generated indirectly among regional suppliers. In 2025, Solaris delivered 1,631 vehicles to customers, of which 86% were low- and zero-emission buses, including battery-electric, hydrogen and trolleybus models. The company has consistently maintained its position as a European leader in this segment, confirming both the effectiveness of its technological strategy and the stability of market demand.

At the same time, Solaris is preparing for further expansion into the North American market, including the United States and Canada, where it has already begun fulfilling its first orders this year. In Europe, the company has also announced plans to expand its offering in the intercity bus segment. These growth plans require continued development of its production capabilities.

“We are investing in expanding our production capacity and product portfolio to meet the growing demand for sustainable transport in Europe and in new markets,” said Agata Stańda, CEO of Solaris.

In addition to presenting the new production hall, Solaris also announced plans to build another manufacturing facility in the Środa Wielkopolska municipality, for which 47 hectares of land have already been secured. The planned factory, which will also be dedicated to intercity buses, is expected to reach operational readiness in 2029.

The ongoing investments and strong sales performance confirm Solaris’ long-term strategy, focused on scaling operations, technological innovation and international expansion, thereby supporting value creation in the years ahead.
