On Tuesday, 9 June, 40 Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses officially joined the fleet of MZK Toruń. Under the contract signed in May 2025, the bus manufacturer will also provide charging infrastructure.
The official handover ceremony of the 40 Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses was attended by representatives of Miejski Zakład Komunikacyjny (MZK) in Toruń and Solaris Bus & Coach. Alongside the vehicle deliveries, Solaris will provide the operator with charging infrastructure, including both plug-in chargers and pantograph chargers located at the depot and across the city, enabling fast charging. The delivery of 40 zero-emission Solaris Urbino buses has expanded the electric fleet that MZK Toruń has been gradually developing since 2022. With this latest delivery, a total of 50 fully electric Solaris vehicles will be operating on the city’s streets.

The Urbino 12 electric buses delivered under the latest contract are low-floor and fully air-conditioned vehicles. Each bus has been equipped with safety systems compliant with GSR2 (General Safety Regulation 2), including a Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) for detecting cyclists in blind spots, as well as a Moving Off Information System (MOIS), which detects pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle when pulling away and alerts the driver to their presence.
The cooperation between Solaris and the city of Toruń dates back to 2010. Since then, the company has delivered a total of 189 buses to the city. In recent years, the vast majority of these vehicles have been low-emission or zero-emission models.
