Representatives of the Municipal Transport Company in Lublin (MPK Lublin) and Solaris signed a contract today for the purchase of 20 state-of-the-art Trollino 12 trolleybuses. The new vehicles will join the already extensive fleet of Solaris trolleybuses and buses operating in the city’s transport network. Deliveries are scheduled for early 2027.

Lublin is, alongside Gdynia and Tychy, one of three cities in Poland that use trolleybuses in their public transport systems. Thanks to the contract concluded in December 2025 between Solaris and MPK Lublin, the operator’s fleet will soon expand with 20 twelve-metre Trollino vehicles, with deliveries to be completed in the first months of 2027. To date, more than 80 Solaris trolleybuses of this type have already been delivered to Lublin.

“Lublin is now among the leaders of electromobility in Poland, and we are proud that our vehicles genuinely support this development. Our cooperation with MPK Lublin spans almost three decades and includes over 120 zero-emission vehicles delivered. The contract for 20 Trollino 12 trolleybuses is another step in building one of the most advanced electromobility networks in Poland. Trolleybuses, together with electric and hydrogen buses, are one of the pathways to sustainable, environmentally friendly mobility in cities, and Solaris offers all these solutions, supporting the transformation of public transport across Europe,” said Agata Stańda, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o.

The ordered Solaris Trollino 12 vehicles will feature a traditional trolleybus driveline as well as onboard batteries enabling operation beyond the overhead line network. The batteries can be charged while connected to the trolleybus infrastructure, which increases operational flexibility. The system will include a preconditioning function, allowing the interior temperature to be optimised before departure, improving passenger comfort and energy efficiency. Additionally, the fleet will be equipped with the proprietary eSConnect software, enabling remote vehicle monitoring, diagnostics, and operational support.

The trolleybuses will also be fitted with the latest safety systems compliant with General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2), aimed at increasing the protection of all road users. These solutions include, among others, a Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) that detects cyclists in blind spots, and a Moving Off Information System (MOIS) that monitors the presence of pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle and alerts the driver.

Each Trollino will accommodate 80 passengers, including 29 seated. The vehicles will feature a comprehensive monitoring system covering the entire interior and exterior. Passenger comfort will be enhanced by USB ports and a passenger counting system, enabling precise analysis of passenger flow.

The new order further strengthens Lublin’s position among European cities that consistently invest in the green transformation of public transport. Solaris has already delivered more than 120 zero-emission vehicles to the capital of the Lublin region, including electric buses, hydrogen buses, and trolleybuses.
