Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric at Bus Euro Test 2026
Zurück zum Artikel

Solaris Bus & Coach is taking part in intecity edition of the Bus Euro Test 2026 competition, presenting the Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric model. The intercity vehicle has been designed as a flexible solution combining the requirements of urban and regional transport. In the previous edition of the industry event, the hydrogen-powered Urbino 18 hydrogen won the Bus of the Year 2025 title.

Bus Euro Test is an international comparative bus testing event organized by the Bus of the Year jury, composed of trade journalists from across Europe. During the tests, experts evaluate the latest bus models under real operating conditions, analyzing, among others, performance, energy efficiency, passenger comfort, and driver ergonomics. The tests also include braking efficiency measurements and noise level assessments, while a detailed technical presentation of the vehicle and its technological advancement are also key elements of the evaluation.

In this year’s edition of the event, intercity vehicles are competing. Solaris selected the Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric model. The bus has been designed for both urban and intercity operations. The vehicle can carry up to 100 passengers and offers up to 65 seats, combining high capacity with travel comfort in a wide range of operating conditions.

The vehicle enables flexible fleet deployment – from short urban routes to longer intercity connections. The low-floor front section supports efficient passenger flow in city traffic, while the rear section has been designed with comfort in mind for longer-distance travel.

The vehicle’s range, reaching approximately 600 km (depending on configuration and operating conditions), is the result of combining an efficient electric drivetrain, Solaris High Energy batteries, and flexible charging options, including CCS2 and pantograph systems.

The vehicle complies with GSR2 regulations and the R66 safety standard. The bus is equipped with a wide range of driver assistance and road safety systems, including blind spot monitoring, driver fatigue detection, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist, as well as systems supporting vehicle start-off and maneuvering. Solutions enhancing vehicle stability and braking performance have also been implemented, such as the electronic braking system (EBS), traction control system (ASR), electronic stability control (ESC), and collision mitigation system (CMS).

The Urbino 15 LE electric is a model already proven in real-life operation across Europe. Solaris has already contracted more than 600 vehicles of this type, approximately 320 of which have already been delivered to operators, primarily in Sweden, but also in the Netherlands, Spain, and Poland.

Solaris already holds two Bus of the Year titles – for the Urbino 12 electric (2017) and the Urbino 18 hydrogen (2025), both of which are now widely used zero-emission buses across Europe. The participation of the Urbino 15 LE electric in Bus Euro Test 2026 reflects Solaris’ broader development direction in the intercity transport segment. The manufacturer is currently working on a new generation of dedicated intercity buses, further expanding its portfolio of zero-emission vehicles designed for longer-distance routes and operations beyond urban areas.
