Solaris to deliver up to 40 electric buses to Olomouc

Solaris has signed a contract with the public transport operator in the Czech city of Olomouc to deliver 20 electric buses. The order comprises 10 Urbino 12 electric buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses. The contract also includes an option to extend the order by a further 20 vehicles. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028.

Solaris and Dopravní podnik města Olomouce signed a contract to deliver 20 zero-emission buses. Olomouc will receive 10 twelve-metre Urbino 12 electric buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses. The ordered e-buses will be based on Solaris’s modular drive architecture, which eliminates the traditional engine tower, thereby increasing passenger space and facilitating servicing. The contract also includes an option for an additional 15 twelve-metre battery-electric buses and 5 articulated vehicles. If the option is exercised, the order may comprise up to 40 Solaris electric buses in total. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028.

The vehicles will comply with GSR2 requirements and will be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including solutions for blind spot monitoring, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and driver fatigue monitoring.

Solaris and Dopravní podnik města Olomouce have been working together for many years. To date, the manufacturer has delivered 96 buses to Olomouc. The vehicles covered by the latest contract will be the first Solaris electric buses in the operator’s fleet.

The Czech Republic is one of Solaris’s key markets in Europe. For many years, the manufacturer has been supplying buses and trolleybuses to the country, consistently supporting Czech cities and operators in the transition towards zero-emission public transport. To date, a total of almost 1,500 Solaris vehicles have been delivered to Czech customers, more than 500 of which are zero-emission vehicles – battery-electric and hydrogen buses as well as trolleybuses.
