Solaris Bus & Coach has signed a contract with the Danish public transport operator AarBus from city Aarhus, for the delivery of 50 Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses. The agreement also includes an option for an additional 36 vehicles. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027. This marks another important step in strengthening Solaris’ position in the Northern European market.
AarBus, responsible for operating local bus routes in Aarhus – Denmark’s second-largest city – and the surrounding area, will significantly expand its zero-emission fleet under the agreement signed with Solaris on 23 October. The operator’s fleet will be complemented by 50 modern, articulated Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses, with the contract providing an option to extend the order by a further 36 units. As a result, up to 86 electric Solaris buses could enter service on the Danish market.
The ordered Urbino 18 electric buses will be equipped with Solaris High Energy batteries, featuring a total capacity exceeding 700 kWh, which ensures a long operational range and allows for continuous operation throughout the day without requiring intermediate charging. The articulated Urbino 18 electric is one of Solaris’ flagship models, offering a spacious interior, high energy efficiency, and design flexibility that meets the requirements of modern city operators. Deliveries are planned for the first half of 2027, with the optional units scheduled for 2028.
Cooperation between Danish operators and Solaris dates back to 2006. To date, the manufacturer has delivered over 350 buses to the Danish market, including 100 electric vehicles, making a significant contribution to the country’s transition toward low- and zero-emission public transport. Aarhus was the first city in Denmark to introduce electric Solaris buses into regular operation.
